Summer Reading Assignment
Research shows that the amount of time that students spend reading for fun is a key predictor of their academic achievement (Gallik, 1999).  Reading improves all language arts skills.  It is a skill that continues to improve through practice, so be sure your child’s summer involves reading.  Because reading through the summer is so important, Older Intermediate students are given a summer reading assignment.  This assignment will be handed out to the students as well as posted on the OI - 6 class website.  This will be due the first week of the 2008-2009 school year.

We have enjoyed teaching and working with your students this year.  Thank you for sharing them with us.  Have a great summer!
