| The SAILS
theme, "Searching for Patterns in History," provides a framework for
students to discover recurring patterns in history. Spanning
eras from Ancient Egypt through Romanticism, each book looks at the
ideals of a particular era and at how the arts, architecture,
sciences, and daily life reflect those ideals.
Each of the SAILS books begins with an introduction
to the values and ideals of the period. This introduction is
done as a first-person narrative by someone who lived in that time
period. This is followed by sections that show how the values of
the time period were reflected in all aspects of the culture, such as
the arts, the sciences, and the daily life.
